The iconic Barbie doll is getting a life-sized vacation destination this summer. Atlantis Paradise Island, the mega-resort in the Bahamas, has partnered with toymaker Mattel Inc. to launch an immersive Barbie-themed experience that will take over large swaths of the property starting Memorial Day weekend.
The “Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation” collaboration will bring Barbie’s signature pink hue and beach-inspired aesthetic to hotel rooms, cabanas, restaurants, activities and retail across Atlantis. The resort is dubbing it “Where Atlantis Dreams Come True” for Barbie fans.
At the center is a custom-built, ticketed walkthrough called the “Barbie Boardwalk Adventure” debuting in June. The 35,000-square-foot experience inside Atlantis’ Great Hall will recreate a life-sized Barbie world with interactive playsets, a massive ball pit filled with over 80,000 balls, activity stations and countless photo opportunities.
“This marks the collaboration of two iconic brands in family experiences and entertainment that span generations,” said Audrey Oswell, president and managing director of Atlantis Paradise Island.
For accommodations, select suites and rooms in the Coral Hotel will get a complete Barbie makeover. Guests will find pink-hued walls, beach-themed throw pillows, doll artwork, and even Barbie-decorated bathrooms. Outside, nearby pool cabanas will feature pink and yellow accents to match the Barbie aesthetic.
The resort’s renowned Atlantis Kids Adventure Club will incorporate Barbie throughout with themed story times led by mermaids, cooking classes with petit chef apparel, and full-fledged “mermaid adventures” for youngsters.
Not to be outdone, Atlantis’ culinary team is concocting all sorts of pink-dyed and Barbie-inspired food and beverage offerings. The Sun & Ice cafe will transform into a retro-style Barbie eatery serving up treats like the “Paradise Sub” sandwich, “Sea-Breeze Salad,” and “Strawberry Bliss Tart.”
Adult guests can sip on vodka cocktails like the “Beach Vibes” and “Pink Paradise” served throughout the resort. Kiddie versions made with club soda will also be available.
Other Barbie-themed bites will pop up at Murray’s Delicatessen (pink donuts, shakes and pancakes), Plato’s (berry croissants, chia puddings), and the new Perch breakfast spot (pink beet dishes).
To complement the experience, Atlantis will host family-friendly Barbie pool parties throughout the summer, complete with games, trivia, face painting and plenty of pink pool floats. Evenings could include poolside or indoor movie screenings of Barbie films.
Exclusive Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation merchandise, including apparel and souvenirs, will be sold at the Great Hall and other Atlantis retail locations starting in June.
