Air Canada Bolsters India Connectivity with Winter 2024-25 Expansion

Expanded schedule includes new non-stop Toronto-Mumbai flights and increased service from Calgary and Montreal

Key Takeaways
    • Air Canada introduces first non-stop Toronto-Mumbai flights.
    • New Calgary-Delhi route via London Heathrow starts October 27.
    • Montreal-Delhi service increases to daily, boosting capacity by 44%.

Air Canada is significantly boosting its flight service to India for the upcoming 2024-25 winter season, providing more travel options and connectivity between the two countries.

The Montreal-based airline announced today it will operate 25 weekly flights to India from late October through March, a 40% increase in seat capacity compared to last winter. This expanded schedule includes new routes, additional frequencies, and leverages Air Canada’s extensive North American network.

New Non-Stop Toronto-Mumbai Route

The marquee addition is the launch of Air Canada’s first ever non-stop flights between Canada and Mumbai. Starting October 27, Air Canada will operate four weekly non-stop Boeing 777-200LR flights from Toronto to Mumbai, the only direct air link between the two countries’ largest cities. These flights will feature Air Canada’s premium Signature Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

“India is an important market for Air Canada, reflecting longstanding family and trade ties between our two countries,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning. “With new non-stop flights from Toronto to Mumbai…we are solidifying Air Canada as the leading airline offering the most travel options between Canada and India.”

To supplement the new Mumbai service, Air Canada is introducing new daily seasonal flights from Calgary to Delhi via a stop in London Heathrow from October 27 to March 28. These flights will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners and connect conveniently to Air Canada’s existing daily Vancouver-London service.

Air Canada’s Montreal-Delhi route will see a significant increase as well, going from 5 weekly flights currently to daily service for the winter schedule. This boosts capacity on the route by 44%.

In total for winter 2024-25, Air Canada will operate 11 weekly flights from Toronto to Delhi and Mumbai, daily flights from Montreal to Delhi, and daily western Canada service to Delhi via London Heathrow.

This major flight expansion reflects the strong demand for travel between Canada and India, driven by family connections, business ties, and cultural events like Diwali celebrations. It builds on Air Canada’s strong positioning in the North American-India market and its global hub operations.

Seats on all the new India flights are now available for purchase through Air Canada’s website. The airline is encouraging customers to book early to take advantage of the increased service for travel during India’s peak winter season.
